The Art of Nuclear Safety

Daniel Cooper from Jacobs

World energy needs have evolved over recent years which has driven countries to want energy independence by ever increasingly low carbon electricity.

Therefore, a new nuclear renaissance is emerging as a source of low carbon base load in the energy mix. With the changes in country needs and evolution of nuclear technology, safety remains paramount to an ever changing industry.

There is a greater focus on safety in the nuclear industry due to the perceived and realised consequences when an event does occur. This talk aims to look at the challenges that the nuclear industry faces and how evolving requirements drive the art of producing a nuclear safety case.

Daniel Cooper

A principle nuclear safety engineer who has worked on many national and international nuclear projects. He specialises in the production of full lifecycle nuclear safety cases, licensing and Regulation.
